Ghost money, despite the slight annoyance of random street fires– I do love money effigies… It always reminds me that our entire economy is a shared illusion of decorative paper and numbers. Although ghost money rituals do make way more financial sense than most financial analysts.

Hong Kong is a fascinating city of extremes, from age to wealth, a bubbling cauldron of striving inequality — a young man in a Ferrari will put through congested traffic and yield fearfully to a hunchbacked woman with a pushcart of trash — the city residents struggle tirelessly between these extremes of hope and fear.
Early morning Lamma island, the few times I'm up at dawn I always appreciate the quiet tranquility, not as much as I appreciate sleep, but once in awhile it's nice to be reminded that 6am is real thing.
